A fun world holidays theatre teaching resource based on funny real-world unofficial holidays. These printable theatre improv cards have been created for use with various theatre games and activities. Use the cards for spontaneous improvisation games where a prompt is needed or otherwise task students to come up with scenes or monologues based on the cards.
Use these funny 'world holidays' cards (which act as an improvisation setting) with the following suggested theatre / improv games (instructions included in resource), use them to start scenes or to start any improv:
- Open Scene
- Televised Event
- Why are you celebrating?
The improvisation cards can be used in so many more ways and with different theatre games and exercises!
If you're like me, some days you just can't think of creative scene prompts or ideas for your drama or theatre class games and activities. If you are teaching improv theatre to middle school or high school or doing improv with adults, these improv cards provide instance prompts and hours of fun!
Example 'world holidays' theatre games prompts:
- Squirrel Appreciation Day (celebrated on January 21, this is a national day to celebrate squirrels in some way)
- Meteor Watch Day (hopefully you can catch a meteor on meteor watch day - 30 June)
- Clean out your Refridgerator Day (what will be found on November 15?)
Within each Drama Card set from Drama Trunk you will find prompts suitable for various levels (beginner to advanced) and age groups and I suggest having a quick flick through before the class and taking out more advanced or beginner prompts (depending on the class and year level). Most are suitable for all of the grade levels listed.
Combine the use of multiple drama or improv card sets for even more drama and improv activities, challenges and ideas (you will have a HUGE amount of activities ready to go when needed)!
