These prompt cards have been created to help develop drama performance skills (gesture, body language, facial expression, mood etc) with a focus on freeze frames (tableaux). Use the cards to extend and develop performance techniques, for spontaneous improvisation games where a prompt is needed or otherwise task players to come up with scenes based on the cards.
This set of prompt freeze frame cards includes freeze frame scenarios with additional directives to extend the initial freeze frames and comes with other suggested improvisation games and drama activities.Use Drama Trunk ‘Freeze Frame Cards' with the following suggested improv games (instructions included in resource), use them to start scenes or to start any improvisation.

- All in improvised open scene (based off the scenarios on the cards)If you're like me, some days you just can't think of creative scene prompts or ideas for your drama or theatre class games and activities. These freeze frame prompt cards can be used in so many more ways and with different improvisation games and activities! Great for a warm up or end of lesson ready to go performance activity.
Example freeze frames starter prompts:
- Freeze Frame: An Art Gallery. Freeze Changes: The artist is showing off their work to a crowd of admirers. Someone spills something on the art. Someone tries to steal the art. There is a fire in the art gallery.
- Freeze Frame: Baking Competition. Freeze Changes: One of the contestants sabotages a competitors entry. A person jumps out of the middle of one of the cakes to sing 'happy birthday' to the surprise of everyone. The judges get food poisoning. When the baking is revealed, everyone finds that someone has snuck into the competition and eaten everything.
